ABOUT WHEATGRASS

Wheatgrass - Nature’s Great Healer

CHLOROPHYLL
The bioavailable chlorophyll found in wheatgrass juice can protect us from carcinogens (cancer causing substances) like no other food or medicine. Studies in animals indicate that it helps to reduce absorption of a variety of serious carcinogens (Zeigler, 1995). It strengthens the cells, detoxifies the liver and blood stream and chemically neutralises the polluting elements in our environment.

Given that the liver is the main organ of detoxification in the body it is important to note that chlorophyll stimulates and regenerates it. Three compounds found in the juice that helps the liver with this are:

• Choline which prevents the deposition of fats
• Magnesium which draws out excess fat
• Potassium which invigorates and stimulates

AMINO ACIDS
Wheatgrass juice is a complete protein and provides the following amino acids:

• Absensic (anti cancer agent)
• Alanine (blood builder)
• Arginine (seminal fluid)
• Asparfic (acid energy)
• Glutamic (acid mental alertness)
• Glycine (energy)
• Histidine (hearing and nerve function)
• Isoleucine (growth in infants)
• Leucine (energy and nerve stimulation)
• Lysine (anti aging)
• Methionine (kidney and liver cleanser)
• Phenylalanine (thyroid function)
• Proline (Glutamic acid absorption)
• Serine (brain stimulation)
• Threonine (digestion and assimilation)
• Tryptophane (skin and hair growth)
• Valine (brain/muscle co-ordination)

BLOOD BUILDER
Both chlorophyll (as in wheatgrass juice) and haemoglobin (red blood cells) are molecularly similar. The only actual difference is that the central element in chlorophyll is magnesium and in haemoglobin it is iron, so chlorophyll has been shown to build red blood cells quickly after ingestion. It normalises high blood pressure by dilating the blood pathways throughout the body, and stimulates healthy blood tissue-cell growth. Chlorophyll has the ability to break down poisonous carbon dioxide and release free oxygen. Wheatgrass stimulates metabolism and enzyme systems and the abundance of alkaline minerals in the juice helps to reduce over acidity in the blood.

BODY CLEANSING
Wheatgrass juice has a long tradition as a cleanser of blood, organs and gastrointestinal tract it contains saponin, a detergent factor which can help drain the lymphatic system, carrying away many toxins from the body cells. When an imbalance or injury exists, for example, sore tendons or joints or degenerative disuses, thee is a natural build up of mucous in the lymph particular to that area. This mucous is encapsulated, helping to ensure the proper flow of lymphatic fluid. Wheatgrass juice helps to break down the mucous, allows it to drain and thus relieves pressure and aids healing.

ALLERGIES AND SENSITIVITIES
Wheatgrass is different to wheat, as on is a green vegetable, and the other a grain. The green vegetable grass contains no gluten and is therefore no more allergic than spinach or lettuce. In fact it contains anti-allergic factors. Since allergies are immune responses to toxic irritants, detoxification is crucial to any allergy treatment problem.

BODY HEALING
In the book ‘Survival Into The 21st Century’ by Rev. Viktoras Kulvinskas M.S.' It states “in therapeutic amounts, wheatgrass juice will detoxify the body by increasing the elimination of hardened mucous, crystallised acids and solidified, decaying faecal matter. It’s high enzyme content helps dissolve tumours. It is the fastest, surest way to eliminate internal waste and provide an optimum nutritional environment”. Kulvinaskas adds “Wheatgrass juice is the nectar of rejuvenation, the plasma of youth, the blood of all life. The elements that are missing in your body’s cells – especially enzymes vitamins, hormones, and nucleic acids can be obtained from this daily green sunlight transfusion”.

Anne Wigmore believes “Wheatgrass is not a cure, however, through scientific investigation and experimentation we have discovered that it furnishes the body with vital nourishment, which, when missing, yields sickness.”

The movement for the human consumption of wheatgrass began in the western world in the 1930’s and was initiated by Charles F Schnaball, known as ‘ the father of wheatgrass’. He said “fifteen pounds of wheatgrass is equivalent to 350 pounds of choicest vegetables”.

WHEATGRASS AND WATER
A few blades of wheatgrass were added to fluoridated water for several minutes. When the grass was later removed and the water tested, no fluorine was detected. Later, an official from the water department of New York City tested some fluoridated water to which wheatgrass had been added with the same results. Wheatgrass makes harmful inorganic chemicals harmless.

WHEATGRASS, FRUITS AND VEGETABLES
Fruits and vegetables contaminated by sprays can be cleaned with a few blades of wheatgrass placed in the rinse water.

WHEATGRASS AND ANIMALS
Animals have been observed to choose, during periods of illness, a diet consisting almost exclusively of green vegetation.

HOW TO MAKE A POULTICE OF WHEATGRASS
Juice the wheatgrass, preferably with a wheatgrass juicer. Soak pulp in juice. Gather pulp in plastic bag, put cloth over it and tape on to the wound or sore for healing. Use wheatgrass poultice for sores and boils, burns, cuts and insect bites.

WHEATGRASS FOR TRAVELING
Chew a handful of wheatgrass for the juice. Spit out the pulp. When travelling a long distance by car, chew on wheatgrass and your energy level will stay high.

HOW MUCH WHEATGRASS JUICE TO TAKE
Wheatgrass, a great body builder, is a complete food and is very rich in chlorophyll. Start with one ounce a day and add a small amount of water. As you become accustomed to the wheatgrass, drop the water and work up to 6 ounces of wheatgrass juice a day. Your energy level will be very high. Wheatgrass juice should be mixed thoroughly with your saliva before swallowing. Drink very slowly.

WHEATGRASS AND RADIATION
Many tests are being made which point to a chlorophyll (wheatgrass) rich diet affecting the survival of experimental animals undergoing lethal doses of radiation.' In 1950, Lourau and Lartigue reported that cabbage supplement (chlorophyll) increases the resistance of guinea pigs to radiation.

X-RAYS
If you have had an X-ray recently, or live in the city, a glass of green juice taken daily on an indefinite basis will greatly slow down harmful effects.

The solid content of juice made from whealgrass is 70% chlorophyll. The enzyme content is at its maximum at this stage. Like most whole foods it is rich in laetrile (B-17) which can selectively destroy cancer cells, but has little effect on normal cells. According to Dr. Krebs, the laetrile content in sprouts and young fresh greens increases up to 100 times beyond that of the seeds from which they originated.

Television, especially colored, gives off radiation. Put some green plants or wheatgrass in front of the TV, and it will absorb radiation. Also wheatgrass or green plants will absorb pollution and odors in your home.
